Greer Community Members,
We are writing to update you on the Greer Mountain Village Condominium Proposal. At last week’s Planning & Zoning Commission meeting 21 condos were approved for construction on 2 1/3 acres against the spirit and letter of Greer’s zoning ordinance Article 6.
As reported in the White Mountain Independent, “the application, submitted by Pietro Di Giammarino and represented by Mark Collick, proposed a layout of 21 individual residential condominium units with shared common areas. Public opposition to the project was vocal and extensive. Community members addressed the commission, including representatives from local homeowners associations and longtime residents. Speakers cited a range of concerns, including alleged zoning irregularities, potential effects on wildlife and the local water table, and fears of increased congestion and noise. One speaker argued the project did not meet the intended use of Greer Commercial Resort zoning and warned that its approval could lead to similar developments throughout the village. Others, who own property adjacent to the site, raised environmental concerns, including drainage issues and the effect on the nearby meadow and saturated soils.”

The commissioners ignored the ‘vocal and extensive’ crowd and the many letters of opposition they received.
The GCI continues to maintain that free standing condominium development is NOT the purpose of GCR zoning…just read Article 6.
We are exploring avenues for further action that can be taken by GCI and area neighbors who will be damaged by this decision and will send new updates soon.
Any action taken will require funds for legal advice. Please scroll down and make your donation to GCI at the bottom of this web page.
